Pastor David Hsu
- Praise God for His mercy toward us these last 30 years serving at W.
- Pray our continued love for God and people, a stronger prayer life, and faithful succession planning.

- Pray for a servant’s heart to love and serve Hannah more this year and for God’s grace to incorporate healthy rhythms as we celebrate 13 years of marriage.
- Pray for wisdom and joyful patience in raising Adah and Micah to be children after God’s heart.
- Pray for a growing, abiding heart in Christ as I prayerfully steward the gifts God has given me.
- Pray for my ongoing equipping in spiritual direction to help others become more attentive to the presence and voice of God in their lives.
- Pray for more understanding and ability to speak, read, and write Chinese to help me minister across the congregations.
Pastor Andrew Bywaters
- Pray for continued guidance and wisdom in shepherding the English congregation.
- Pray for Angela’s work situation, which is very demanding and stressful.
- Pray for AnaLiza’s continued growth in her faith.
Pastor I-Ming Huang
- Pray for the health of the whole family, especially for my mother in Taiwan and my mother-in-law in LA.
- Pray for my children’s health and work .
- Pray that Souane and I can keep serving together.
- Pray for continued growth in preaching and teaching, in order to transform the next generation.
- Pray for the preparations for my upcoming Sabbatical starting in January 2024.
Pastor Andy Lee
- Please pray for continued growth in my shepherding, especially over young adults and life and small groups, and also in my preaching. Pray that the Lord would remind me that this is His work, and for me to rest in that blessing.
- Praise the Father that I get to work with gifted life group, small group, young adult leaders in Meta. Pray that we would continue to be united under the bonds of unity in our pursuit of His Great Commandment and Great Commission.
- Praise our Father that I get to continue to labor together in both parenting and ministry with my best friend, Christine. Pray that we would bear much fruit in both areas of our lives.
- Pray that I would learn patience as I grow into being a father who is able to teach and instruct his children in a variety of areas, including making friends and projects for the new school year.
- Pray for opportunities to better care for my health, including more consistent healthy eating and exercise.
Pastor Ruth Wu
- Thank God, we recently completed two Alpha courses and a great Cantonese cruise retreat. Several new friends have decided to put their faith in the Lord. We praise God for 10 brothers and sisters who plan to publicly testify and be baptized. May the Lord continue to grow them in Christ, spurring them on to join small groups and get more involved in the church. Pray for the development of each small group in this coming year. May God lead the direction of the Cantonese ministry.
- Since Pastor Paul See retired, I have become really busy and have more ministries to be oversee. Pray that the Lord would give me strength and wisdom on how to arrange and plan, so that I can maintain a good spiritual life and a quiet mind even though I am busy. Pray that I would have good life and ministry balance.
- Pray for my three daughters. Pray for Lydia, for her to successfully graduate from the PhD program next year and find a job ahead of her; and for my son-in-law, Dan Chung, in his counseling internship, that the Lord would use him to help more people in need. Pray for Esther and my son-in-law, Josh Ling, that the Lord would protect them in their busy work, small group life, and service, and that they would gain strength in Christ. Pray for God to provide balance for my youngest daughter Grace’s work and personal life in Los Angeles, and to keep her growing in Christ.
Pastor Kai Chen
- Praise God for the opportunity to be ordained at WHCC! Pray that I would continue to pursue the calling God has given me in humility.
- Pray for time, energy, and intentionality to pursue my marriage by dating my wife and demonstrating Christ love to her through my words and actions.
- Pray for Millie to grow in her understanding of godly obedience, thus leading to a obedience towards her parents. Pray for us as her parents to lead her well, as we seek God to increase our patience and peace.
- Pray for me to lead my youth intern and deacon (Mimi & Kerry) well by equipping and empowering them both. May their time serving in ministry be marked by deeper intimacy and dependence on God.
- Pray for continual reliance on God in my ministry and personal life, placing full trust in Him rather than my own abilities. Would I live my daily life empowered by freedom in God, rather than duty.
Minister Andrew Pua
Praises – We have so many things to thank God for:
- God has provided us a house in Hockley, Texas.
- Ivan graduated from UT-Dallas in May and will be start a new job in January 2024.
- We visited our parents back in Malaysia for the first time since the COVID pandemic started.
- A wonderful Cantonese Cruise retreat.
- Giving me the ability to join two short-term mission trips this year.
Prayer requests:
- Please pray for strength and wisdom to shepherd the Cantonese congregation with care, love, and grace. Pray that we would continue to walk closely with our Lord.
- Pray for good health and time management, that I can serve God through the preaching and teaching of His Word.
Minister Xuezhi Liao
- Thank God for the opportunity to continue to study and serve in our church, through another year of the pandemic.
- Pray that I would yearn to draw close to the Lord each day. Pray that the Holy Spirit would guide me and give me vision, and help me to walk in obedience. Pray for protection, so I can honor God by serving our brothers and sisters with humility as a Chinese minister.
- Pray that my wife and I would continue to grow deeply in our marriage, cherishing and enjoying our time together and that we would glorify God and serve others through our marriage.
- I am grateful for our daughter, Esther, who serves with her church’s worship team and has become a small group leader. Pray for her work, that she would rely on God in her job.
- I thank the Lord for my son Daniel’s desire to be a leader in a newly established small group. May the Lord’s love inspire him, that he would serve faithfully. Pray that he would find a good balance between work and serving.
Minister Michael Hsu
Praise the Lord for letting me experience again the protection and care He has given to me and my family over the past year. The whole family has experienced the grace of being healed after being infected with COVID-19. Thank you, God, for your guidance, healing, and blessings.
I also thank the Lord that in the past year, I experienced and witnessed the power of the Lord’s gospel many times. He led people to confess their sins, repent, and become children of God.
Please pray for me for the following:
- Continue to have a regular spiritual life and enough strength from God to serve the Lord and others.
- Use my time effectively to balance my roles as a husband, father, grandfather, son, and minister.
- Have a heart for others’ salvation and share the gospel and my testimony of salvation boldly.
- Continue to establish a good relationship with my three-year-old granddaughter. Pray with her regularly, so that she will gradually feel God’s love.
- The physical and spiritual health of my elderly mother, my wife, and my two sons’ families.

- Pray that Paulo will have healthy balance of work and rest and will delight in the Lord as he continues to lead our family.
- Pray that the Lord will give Paulo and me wisdom in parenting, that we would be intentional in cultivating our children’s faith, and pursue Christ-honoring priorities as a family.
- Pray for Tabby to shine for Christ at her school, to trust God with her friendships, and have strength to love her enemies.
- Pray for Jayden to understand the gospel in a personal way, and to find the courage to stand up for what is good and honorable and true.
Mimi Lam
- Praise God for the opportunity to serve as a youth intern here at WHCC! Pray that I am able to depend on God through this commitment and for his grace and wisdom to fill me as I serve the youth alongside Pastor Kai.
- Pray for my family, as many of them do not know Jesus. Pray for strength and wisdom as I navigate how to love them well at home.
- Pray for guidance and reassurance as I am uncertain about where God is leading my future. Pray that I am able to trust in God’s good plan.
Office & Treasury Team
- Cherlin: Pray that I would cling to God in the busyness of each day, that I would be sensitive to His calling, and that I would serve our church family with the love and gifts God has given me, to glorify Him and bless others.
- Tiara: Pray that I would seek God each day and that He would be my source of life, purpose, and joy. Pray that I would work, serve, and love others out of an overflow of the goodness of God’s grace in my life.
- Annie: Pray that the Lord would help me to draw near to Him every day so that I can please Him in my work and daily life.
- Donna: Pray for the Lord to use me, whether in work, service, or daily life, to be a living testimony that glorifies Him and blesses others.
- Rebecca: Pray for wisdom and discernment as Jonathan and I parent our sons. Pray that I would seek God daily and honor Him with my words and actions. Pray that I would live a purposeful life.
- Amy: Pray for a humble heart to serve my family, church, and neighbors wholeheartedly. Pray that I would seek Him and follow Him courageously. May God be glorified in all that I do.
Tech Team
- Praise God for his provision of technology to support the operations of our various ministries.
- Pray for wisdom and discernment in remembering that technology is just a tool and not an end all thing to look towards. Pray that our eyes would be continually on Christ and that ultimately we would serve Him, not technology.
- Pray Romans 12:1-2 for us – that we would continually present ourselves to Christ and that our minds would not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of our minds to discern what is the will of God.
Children’s Ministry Team
- Praise God for Sze Sze Cheryl Cheng from the Cantonese congregation, who will be our part-time children’s assistant. Pray for Sze Sze, her husband Anthony, and her children Kenny and Miles to adjust well during this time of transition.
- Praise God for the sacrificial love that Fiona Chan has shown to us and to the children through her time as the children’s ministry assistant. Pray that the Lord would go before her as she returns to Hong Kong to support her husband.
- Pray that our children’s ministry core team would continue to serve together in unity and humbly seek God’s guidance as we make decisions about how to care for our children.
- Pray that God would help the WKids teachers and leaders to receive from God daily, be in prayer for the needs of our ministry, and serve out of an overflow of what we receive from Him.
Facility Team
- Praise the Lord that we can continue to work on various building maintenance and equipment repair/upgrade projects, as well as effectively provide ministry support with limited resources. We are thankful for a new full-time staff member joining our team. Pray for our team to be utilized to His full glory.
- May God continue to grant us wisdom and strength and allow us to experience His presence and grace in our daily work.
- Pray that God would continue to protect us from any illness or possible work-related injuries, so that we can live joyfully and serve Him with our full strength. Pray that He would keep us and our family members healthy and strong in body, mind, and spirit, that we would all feel thankful every day because His love nourishes our lives abundantly.
