About Us

Our Mission: Welcoming sojourners home to the joy of following Jesus together.

Our Story

In 1991, forty families responded in faith to God’s call for Houston Chinese Church (HCC) to plant a new church on the west side of Houston, following the visionary leadership of Pastor Calvin Wong. Today, under the leadership of Pastor David Hsu, WHCC has been blessed to be a growing church that has continued the legacy of planting churches, including Katy Christian Community Church, Access Church, and our latest, New Hope Christian Church Woodlands. God’s story of redemption, blessing, and life change continues to unfold and we believe our best days are ahead.

OUR STRATEGY

Hover to learn about each step:

RENEW
Renew is how we abide and become energized in worship as God’s beloved. It’s a celebration of the work of God in us and through us. We are to build a rhythm of rest through spiritual disciplines to refresh and refuel for our missional journey. (Isaiah 40:31)
RELATE
Relate describes our fellowship rhythm in small groups. We engage people through relationship and show that we are Christ-followers by the love we have for each other. We seek to understand, receive, serve, and build up one another as a community beloved by God. (Romans 15:7)
RECONCILE
Reconcile describes the outreach heart of the Gospel, to bring the love of God so people make peace with God and with one another. It says that our missional outreach is about reconciling families and generations, and reconciling people to God through the finished work of the cross. (2 Corinthians 5:18)
REPRODUCE
Reproduce is about discipleship and our heart for multiplication. Our desire is to grow every disciple into deeper love and fruitfulness in Christ. We are about equipping people according to their strengths and unleashing them to multiply as leaders, global partners, and church planters. (Matthew 28:19a)

Our church firmly holds the following doctrines as fundamental truths:

  • One God, Creator of the universe, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, God and Man in one person, born of the Virgin Mary, the Word incarnate. He died on the cross to atone for the sins of man. He resurrected and ascended to be the mediator between God and man.
  • The Holy Spirit is the Comforter to believers. He convicts people of sin, brings repentance, indwells in believers forever, leads people into truth, and sanctifies the believer.
  • The 66 books of the Bible are the Word of God. They are inspired, inerrant, authoritative, and the sole standard for Christian doctrine and living.
  • God created man in His image. Man has fallen into depravity because of sin. Man can only be saved from his sin and enter the kingdom of God through faith in Christ.
  • Marriage is instituted by God from the creation of humanity as the life-long union of one man with one woman for the blessing of people and the glory of God.
  • The Church is the body of Christ and consists of all born-again Christians. Christ is the Head of His Church, the household of God.
  • Jesus Christ will return to establish His eternal kingdom. All people will rise and be judged: the believers into eternal life and the nonbelievers into eternal damnation.
