We are so blessed by the spiritual shepherding and diligent work of our pastors, ministers, and support staff year round at W. October is Clergy & Staff Appreciation month, and it is the perfect time to return the love and care!

Pastor David Hsu
- Praise God that I could finish my DMin study this year, and for the grace we have received serving at W.
- Pray that God would help me love Him and His people, grow my prayer life, and give me greater focus.
- Pray for clarity of vision, time management, and spiritual leadership.
- Pray for me to love Cheryl well as we serve together, for my mom’s health, and for our family communication.
- Pray for Nathan’s ministry in Bulgaria, language learning, and clarity in calling.
- Pray for Hannah’s ministry with InterVarsity, health, friendship, and dating.
- Pray that we would have unity and teamwork as we seek to make disciples, deepen friendships, share God’s love with seekers.
Pastor Nathan Wang
- Pray for a servant’s heart to love and serve Hannah more this year and for God’s grace to strengthen our marriage as we celebrate 12 years of marriage.
- Pray for wisdom and joyful patience in raising Adah and Micah to be children after God’s heart.
- Pray for wisdom and a greater dependency on Christ as I serve the different congregations with the gifts God has given me.
- Pray for perseverance to help execute and implement the vision God has given us as we prepare for the next 10 year vision.
- Pray for opportunities to disciple and build up leaders who desire to see the gospel go out into the world.
Pastor Andrew Bywaters
- Pray for wisdom to lead the English Congregation with love and grace.
- Pray for both Angela’s and my continued graduate studies.
- Pray that our entire family would grow in our passion for Jesus and our love for people.
Pastor I-Ming Huang
- Pray for the health of the whole family, especially for my Mom in Taiwan and my mother-in-law in LA.
- Pray for my son and daughter-in-law, Sebastien and Christina’s life in New York.

- Pray for my daughter Grace, for her studies and life in college.

Pastor Ruth Wu
- Thank God for sabbatical rest and the opportunity to go to Europe. I enjoyed being in nature and experiencing God’s presence, as well as having the opportunity to meet some local sisters and friends. Since returning from sabbatical, I have been busy. In addition to various ministry and care work, there have also been online courses and so on. Pray for the wisdom on how to arrange and balance my time, so that I can still maintain good quiet time with the Lord, in the busy schedule of ministry.
- Praise God that the number of brothers and sisters who have returned to worship in person has increased. May the Lord protect our brothers and sisters who have been unable to return due to health or other reasons. Pray that they can fully participate in worship and fellowship online. May God keep them physically and spiritually healthy, and may He bring them back soon to join us in person to worship the Lord together.
- Pray for the Lord’s guidance and protection for each of the online and in-person groups as this semester has just started. Pray that the Lord would lead the group leaders and members to grow closer in fellowship and care, and learn and grow together through bible studies and life. As the new young families and young adult groups are still developing, they are currently building their relationships and connection. May the Lord give wisdom the our co-workers and leaders to know how to lead the groups.
- Pray for my three daughters: Lydia and son-in-law (Dan Chung), Esther and son-in-law (Josh Ling) – ask the Lord to build their families and teach them to love and grow together in Christ and balance their lives in work and ministry. Also pray for my youngest daughter, Grace’s work and life in Los Angeles. Pray that the Lord would protect her as she is all by herself there, that she would still have an active church life and small group community even in her busy life of work, and that she would maintain a good relationship with God.
Minister Kai Chen
- Pray for me and Michelle to continue to give grace to each other amid sin, mistakes, and misunderstandings. May we continue to grow in love for each other and make time to be intentional in our conversations.
- Pray for Millie (our two-year-old daughter) to grow in her understanding of kindness. Pray for her to see and understand the kindness of God through her family’s actions. Pray for her to also adjust socially to school and other kids, and to have a strong sense of safety and security.
- Pray for God to lead me and my family in the next chapter of vocational ministry. May we be discerning and patient as we seek the calling of God.
- Pray for me to have a more gentle heart towards others, especially when I feel offended by others.
- Pray for continued conviction and inspiration in how God calls me to lead the people and ministries he has placed before me. May I be filled with the Holy Spirit and abide in the true vine even more closely.
Minister Andrew Pua
- Praise God for bringing Kim and me to join the big family of WHCC! It has been a great joy to serve along many pastors and get to know the families.
- Please pray for strength and wisdom to shepherd the Cantonese congregation with care, love, and grace. Pray that we will continue to walk closely with our Lord.
- Also, pray for our kids Ivan and Kathryn, who are both attending UT-Dallas at this moment, that they will do well and continue to mature in Christ.
Minister Xuezhi Liao
- Thank God for the opportunity to continue to study and serve in our church, through another year of the pandemic.
- Pray that I would yearn to draw close to the Lord each day. Pray that the Holy Spirit would guide me and give me vision, and help me to walk in obedience. Pray for protection, so I can honor God by serving our brothers and sisters with humility as a Chinese minister.
- Pray that my wife and I would continue to grow deeply in our marriage, cherishing and enjoying our time together, and that we would glorify God and serve others through our marriage.
- I am grateful for our daughter, Esther, who serves with her church’s worship team and has become a small group leader. Pray for her work, that she would rely on God in her job.
- I thank the Lord for my son Daniel’s desire to be a leader in a newly established small group. May the Lord’s love inspire him, that he would serve faithfully. Pray that he would find a good balance between work and serving.
Minister Michael Hsu
Praise the Lord for letting me experience again the protection and care He has given me and my family over the past year. From experiencing reconciliation in my relationship with my relatives to my gradual recovery after catching Covid, I have felt the guidance, healing, and blessings of God. I also thank the Lord that in the past year, I experienced and witnessed the power of the Lord’s gospel many times. He led people to confess their sins, repent, and to become children of God.
Please pray the following for me:
- That I would continue to have regular devotion time and enough strength from God to serve the Lord and others.
- That I would use my time effectively, to balance my roles as a husband, father, grandfather, son, and minister.
- That I would have a heart for others’ salvation, and that I would share the gospel and my testimony of salvation boldly.
- That I would continue to establish a good relationship with my two-year-old granddaughter, praying with her every day, that she will experience and feel God’s love.
- Pray for the physical and spiritual health of my elderly mother, my wife, and my two sons’ families.
May Lee (Partner Staff)
- Praise God for a smooth transition into being partner staff at WHCC. I still remember being a newcomer back in 1999 and thankful that God still has us here after 23 years.
- Please pray for my ministry with the Meta women – for me to listen, care, pray, and encourage them well.
- After taking a year off from leading small group, I have gone back into leading a life group with Tiara Lin. Please pray for a good partnership in the Gospel and to be able to shepherd the members well. Please also pray that our life group would be open with each other and have a heart of desiring to hear from Jesus which would result in life change.
- Please pray for me and Yates as we navigate our first year of being empty nesters – that we would honor God with our time and know how to parent college-aged girls.

- Cherlin: Pray that I would cling to God in the busyness of each day, that I would be sensitive to His calling, and that I would serve our church family with the love and gifts God has given me, to glorify Him and bless others.
- Tiara: Pray that I would seek God each day, and that He would be my source of life, purpose, and joy. Pray that I would work, serve, and love others out of an overflow of the goodness of God’s grace in my life.
- Joanne: Pray for a humble heart to serve my family, church, and neighbors wholeheartedly. Pray that I would seek Him and following Him courageously. May God be glorified in all that I do.
- Annie: Pray that the Lord would help me to draw near to Him every day, so that I can please Him in my work and daily life.
- Donna: Pray for the Lord to use me, whether in work, service, or daily life, to be a living testimony that glorifies Him and blesses others.
- Rebecca: Praise God for this new part-time position at W! Pray that I would seek God daily and honor Him with my words and actions. Pray that I would live a purposeful life.
Tech Team
- Praise God for providing the technology to be able to have hybrid ministry.
- Pray for wisdom and discernment in what technology to use and what technology to not use. Not all technology is beneficial.
- Pray for our continual growth in knowing who He is and to continually rely on Him for our daily provision instead of trusting in the convenience technology can bring.
Children’s Ministry Team
- Pray that God would give us greater zeal for Him, zeal for His Word, and zeal for the discipleship of the next generation.
- Pray for God’s protection and grace over our marriages and families.
- Pray that God would give our team His wisdom and strength to serve our WKids families and co-workers well.
- Pray that God would continue leading our team to serve in unity and grow together.
Facility Team
- Praise the Lord that we can continue to work on various building renovation and maintenance projects, as well as provide ministry support with limited resources. We pray for a new member to be added to the Facility Team soon to alleviate our staff workload.
- May God continue to grant us wisdom and strength, and allow us to experience His presence and grace in our daily work.
- Pray that God would give continuous protection from any illness, so that we can live joyfully and serve Him with our full strength. Pray that He would keep us and our family members healthy and strong in body, mind, and spirit, that we would all feel thankful every day because His love nourishes our lives abundantly.
